This month the 10 millionth .UK web domain was registered, underlining the growth of the internet economy in the UK. .co.uk is the go-to domain for businesses in the UK and has been growing strongly with around a million new registrations in the last year.

A .UK domain says you do business in the UK and 4 in 5 internet users prefer .UK results when searching on-line, a great indication of trust in the domain – it really has never been a better time to get your business on-line and .UK is great place for it to be.

To celebrate this milestone, the folks at .UK are giving away a new iPAD daily to one lucky person who registers or renews their .UK domain name between 28th March and 26th April 2012. Simply visit www.qiq.co.uk to register or renew your .UK domain now.

Australia – 16 Jan 2012 – GlobalSign (http://www.globalsign.com.au/) a specialist in SSL partner programs and security automation technologies, today announced that QiQ Communications (http://www.qiq.com.au/), a leading hosting company has become the first to implement GlobalSign’s OneClickSSL in Australia. The revolutionary technology will allow Australian customers to activate SSL security in seconds, directly from their control panel.

Applying for, and renewing, SSL Certificates has always been a tedious and complicated process. Completing the necessary steps, which entail creating and sending a CSR (Certificate Signing Request), receiving email communications from the SSL vendor and installing the SSL Certificate, requires patience and technical know-how. OneClickSSL rewrites the SSL paradigm by moving away from the traditional, long-winded and error-prone process of SSL provisioning and replacing it with an automated “Click to Activate SSL” workflow.

With OneClickSSL, hosting customers simply purchase Secure Site Vouchers from their hosting provider. The customer goes on to redeem the voucher via one of the OneClickSSL plug-ins, (including cPanel, Parallels Plesk, IIS and Apache), by entering the voucher code and clicking “Activate SSL”. Customers have a SSL secured website in seconds, while hosting providers benefit from a reduced the support overhead and involvement overall. Not only will providers have more time to focus on their core business they will also be generating higher margins from reselling SSL Certificates

As a boutique hosting company, QiQ have always been keen to improve their processes and with this in mind they have deployed the innovative OneClickSSL solution across a number of servers. With the introduction of OneClickSSL, QiQ replaces the time consuming and highly technical application process with an efficient “one-click” option making secure hosting and online business more accessible to smaller online shops.

“The decision to deploy OneClickSSL has enabled us to offer an affordable and efficient SSL solution to our clients,” said Peter Harris, Managing Director, QiQ Communications. “An SSL voucher may now be purchased via QiQ’s online billing system and activated within a client’s hosting control panel with minimal fuss. Clients may choose to complete this simple process themselves or alternatively, QiQ can administrate SSL on their behalf.”

Hosting companies interested in offering OneClickSSL to their customer base can become a GlobalSign partner by contacting GlobalSign at http://www.globalsign.com.au/ssl/oneclickssl/

In this modern age, the trusty and reliable post office is at risk of becoming obsolete, however Australian business owner Peter Harris has other ideas by sending traditional printed letters electronically.

Docsaway is a PDF-based solution that is ideal for businesses wishing to automate or outsource the mailing of their paper-based documents from a number of locations throughout the world. It’s printed letters – an old school form of communication – being sent in a faster, easier and in a more modern way.

It seems right that Mr Harris set up such a business and has an interest in the changing nature of the service as he has a family history in the postal industry. He comes from a long line of postal workers which started before in the 19th century.

“My ancestors have been providing postal services in Maidwell, a Northamptonshire village in the UK, since the advent of the Penny Post in 1840, starting with a Thomas and Mary Goode,” Mr Harris explained.

“The family link ended after 120 years when my aunt, Dorothy Dixon, closed the Maidwell post office in the 1960s, however our link with the postal service resumed with the creation of L-Mail in 2003,” he added.

Although Docsaway is focused on sending documents via the Internet, the focus is still on a traditional style of communications.

With increased speed of delivery and lower cost for international mail, Docsaway offers many benefits for sending printed mail.

Docsaway is a product of the Central Coast business QiQ which was established by Paul Hamlington and Mr Harris. The service enables businesses and individuals to send mail and documents via 30 worldwide locations through a simple web interface.

“We are keen to increase awareness of our services in the UK marketplace and we believe the resemblance to traditional ways of sending mail and the cost savings will be the solution businesses are looking for,” Mr Harris

The US Postal Service is struggling to survive, but Australian Peter Harris is joining the push for US businesses to write more letters through his electronic posting service Docsaway.

Just this week the US Postal Service announced it would close more than half its mail-processing centres in a $3bn cost-cutting drive, resulting in 28,000 job losses http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-16037668

Docsaway is a PDF-based solution that is ideal for businesses wishing to automate or outsource the mailing of their paper-based documents from a number of locations throughout the world. It allows businesses to have the sincerity and genuine nature of a letter, without the fuss of actually going to the post office.

Traditional post offices are often now viewed as outdated, slow and costly. Posting a letter involves not only a financial outlay, but also the cost of personal time. The efficiency and reliability of the postal service is no longer guaranteed and people are looking to other methods for communication.

“It is a shame to see such an institution as the post office clouded with doubt and uncertainty. Docsaway bridges the gap between the need for efficiency and the personal nature of receiving an actual letter,” Mr Harris said.

“I recognised the potential for an affordable mail service that combined traditional mail with the speed of the internet at a time when many of my friends were without an internet connection,” he explained.

The post office’s problems stems from pressure on revenue and costs. As any computer user knows, the internet has revolutionised the way people and businesses communicate. As a result we are sending far less conventional printed mail.

“We’ve been sending paper-based documents via our mail services every day since 2003. Our systems rarely miss a beat – we check our servers every five minutes to keep our reliability promise,” Mr Harris offered as the solution.

“We are keen to increase awareness of our services in the US market and we

believe Docsaway with its cost savings is the change US businesses are looking for,” Mr Harris said.

The US postal service is currently running a campaign titled, “Save the U.S. Post Office: Write A Letter”. Quite simply, the more letters written, the more chance the post office has of surviving – and who doesn’t like receiving a letter (as long as it’s good news)?

Docsaway does not discourage people from writing and sending letters, but instead offers a solution to maintain this art in an efficient way via the internet.

“Write a letter, send it through Docsaway via our safe and secure service, and still embrace traditional postal and mailing services,” Mr Harris urged businesses to do.

Docsaway, together with L-Mail, operate collectively from 29 locations throughout the world. Together, Docsaway and L-Mail form the boutique internet consultancy QiQ Communications.

Web hosts around the globe use the excellent WHMCS system to manage their billing processes. With QiQ’s L-Mail and Docsaway systems automating the sending of welcome letters and invoices through the mail (rather than email) has become easier than ever.

Here is a summary of three options available to WHMCS users:

L-Mail WHMCS plugin

This plugin generates a letter for new members signing up to WHMCS system. It takes various details submitted by the new member and inserts them within a letter template that is sent to the L-Mail hybrid postal system. There are tags within the template that are replaced by the specified details allowing you to send a personalised letter to your members. The plugin cron.php file ideally should be executed as a cronjob once a day, in which all you new members will get what ever letter template you have created personalised with their details.

Alternatively, you could signup at docsaway.com, our new PDF platform and use any of the following:

Docsaway WHMCS addon module

This module allows you to mail your customer invoices out in paper format to your customers addresses. The module connects to the Docsaway pdf mailing platform, which uses globally positioned printing stations to print and mail your invoices closer to your customers address. The module can be found at the following address:

Docsaway Email Document

Mail a PDF document direct from your email account. Once activated, you simply need to enter your contacts into the new Docsaway Address Book feature and make a note of the special email address allocated. Emailing your PDF document direct to the special email address will result in it being mailed. By putting the special email address in your contacts email in WHMCS, any process where an attached PDF is sent to your customer by email will be changed to sending an email attachment to the docsaway system and converted into a mailed document.

This is built into a Docsaway account, when logged in simply go to Email Document beginners guide.
